Highway Design / Transportation Planning

Our services include all facets of transportation planning/engineering and design, from conceptual studies through the preparation of contract documents. These services include all aspects of highway engineering, drainage, utilities, traffic engineering and transportation planning. BLA’s extensive experience in the planning and design of major highway/bridge projects includes development of maintenance and protection of traffic procedures for high volume interstate highways requiring staged construction, mainline crossovers and detour routing and signing.
We have extensive experience in construction management and inspection services, and are familiar with requirements for infrastructure renewal projects in both suburban and metropolitan areas. Our field inspection teams have worked on a variety of complex bridge and highway rehabilitation projects. BLA is currently providing, or has completed, resident engineering/construction inspection services on numerous projects involving high volume interstate traffic, many requiring nighttime and/or weekend construction operations. Notable projects include the I-84/I-91 Interchange in Hartford, CT, reconstruction of the Sikorsky Bridge in Connecticut and the Bruckner Expressway (I-95) in New York City.
