Sikorsky Bridge over the Housatonic River

DESCRIPTION:
BLA was retained to provide construction engineering and inspection services for the replacement of the Sikorsky Bridge, which carries CT Route 15 over the Housatonic River in Milford/Stratford, CT. Route 15, approaching the Sikorsky Bridge, consists of four lanes with guide railing in a grass median and standard shoulders. The Sikorsky Bridge is a four-lane structure with a metal grid deck and a metal barrier median. There are no shoulders or sidewalks on the bridge. The project is 1.7 km long.

Widening of Route US-7

DESCRIPTION:
This project will reconstruct the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway with additional turning lanes at key intersections. Improvements will also include reconstruction of 400 ft of State Rte. 106 (Sharp Hill Rd) and 1,200 ft of widening and reconstruction on State Rte. 33 (Ridgefield Rd). Reconstruction work will be required on three bridges that carry Rte 7 over Goetzen Brook, Metro-North and the Norwalk River.

Bridge Replacement on Route 25 over LIRR

DESCRIPTION:
The work consists of a new single span, steel multi-girder structure on new pile foundations with retaining walls; one lane of vehicular travel in each direction with 8’ shoulders to accommodate pedestrians/bicyclists; realigned and improved sight distance of the approach roadways; seismic, aesthetic, and environmental considerations; wetland mitigation; and landscaping. After the new bridge and approaches are tied into the existing roadway, the old structure will be demolished and the site restored.

Milling and Resurfacing of I-84

DESCRIPTION:
The work will include both eastbound and westbound travel lanes and shoulders. The project limits are 25 km in length, and include the ramps at Exits 1and 2. Project work includes but is not limited to milling with Superpave HMA; pavement joint repairs; full depth shoulder replacement; underdrain replacement; minor ditch drainage and land- scape work. This project will include MPT strategies such as construction phasing, daily lane closures with restrictions during peak hours, and night paving operations.

Pavement Rehabilitation on I-287

DESCRIPTION:
The work consists of milling to a depth of 50mm, resurfacing with a single course 50mm superpave overlay: isolated areas of truing and leveling, cleaning isolated areas of concrete pavement to be overlayed; cleaning and filling joints and cracks; repairing defective transverse pavement joints; repairing/replacing traffic loops damaged by milling; restoring mirads; restoring pavement markings; placing shoulder backup material as necessary; and guiderail installation.
