Long Island Expressway Capacity Improvements

DESCRIPTION:
BLA was to provide design services for the preparation of contract documents (PS&E) for the addition of HOV lanes to the LIE from Searingtown Road (Exit 36) to Jericho Turnpike (Exit 40) in Nassau County, NY. This project involves symmetrical and asymmetrical widening of the LIE, interchange ramp realignment/ relocation, bridge replacement and widening, and retaining wall and noise barrier wall construction. Documents were prepared for three bridge contracts and one highway contract.

NYS Route 17 Conversion to I-86

DESCRIPTION:
BLA was retained by the New York State Department of Transportation as a sub-consultant to Chas H. Sells. The scope of work includes evaluation and design of an eastbound off-ramp and westbound on-ramp at Exit 100A, modifications to interchange 101 with the intersection of CR 71/CR 175, investigation of a modern roundabout, vertical clearance studies at Twin Bridge Road and Queen Mountain Road and four bridge site data packages.

Rehabilitation of Ridge St. & Wappanocca Ave.

DESCRIPTION:
The scope of work for this project calls for complete construction documents for the rehabilitation of Wappanocca Ave. and North Ridge/South St. for 3 miles. Under the proposed project, the streets will be milled and overlaid, sidewalk ramps will be installed where needed, drainage structures and castings will be adjusted or replaced as necessary, and new pavement markings will be installed. The existing bituminous curbs and sidewalks along North Ridge St. will be replaced with concrete.

Rehabilitation of Bedford Center Road, CT-98

DESCRIPTION:
Preparation of contract documents for the rehabilitation and widening of Bedford Center Road for a three mile segment between Adams Street and Route 22. Work includes milling and overlay, curb and sidewalk repairs, drainage system modifications and cleaning, new bicycle paths along both sides of the roadway along the easterly 2.6 miles, guide rail upgrades and pavement markings.
